Got my iPod today. Naturally, I got the wrong model.
Now I’m sitting here with a 30GB iPod I don’t want, and yet no word when I’ll get the right one. Damnit, I’ve been without an MP3-player for two weeks now. It’s not healthy, I tell ya.

Mark Shuttleworth, founder of the Ubuntu OS, has written a nice piece on DRM, and how it just won’t work.
The truth is also that, as the landscape changes, different business models come and go in their viability. Those folks who try to impose analog rules on digital content will find themselves on the wrong side of the tidal wave. Sorry for you. It’s necessary to innovate (again, sometimes!) and stay ahead of the curve, perhaps even being willing to cannibalize your own existing business – though to be honest cannibalizing someone else’s is so much more appealing.
You can read the entire article on Mark’s blog.
Tonight Nine Inch Nails will play at Annexet here in Stockholm. Tonight the city will be ablaze with noise, drowned in distortion and utterly in the twisted hands of the mad scientist we all know as Trent Reznor.
I’m already preparing…
I’ve finally gotten my hands on the entire Year Zero album, thanks to Nine Inch Nails themselves. They’ve put all the songs off the new record up for listening at their website, and made it quite easy to simply download the files off the webserver to listen offline. It’s been running on repeat the last few days :)
So, what do I think about it? Well, it’s not “teh bestest album evar!!”, but it’s pretty damn solid. I suppose it’s going to take some getting to know, just like most new albums like this. Anyway, now I’m just waiting for my preorder to be delieverd. Seems like it’s going to come in a pretty cool packaging, digi-pack with lots of album art and supposedly a disc that changes appearance after you first play it!
I can’t wait!
I’ve been completely consumed by the soundtrack for the movie The Fountain (by Darren Aranofsky) these past few days. I just can’t stop listening to it. It’s the most beautiful, emotional, epic and awe-inspiring piece of music I’ve ever heard, it just goes straight to your heart.
Clint Mansell has worked with The Kronos Quartet again, just like he did on the soundtrack for Requiem for a Dream, but also enlisted the help of post-rock band Mogwai. Together they’ve created what is, in my opinion, the best soundtrack I have ever heard. I’ve yet to actually see the movie, but this soundtrack is so fantastic on its own that I don’t think it even matters.
This soundtrack, this work of art… It really is a journey. Just sit back, relax and surrender yourself to the absolutely breathtaking experience that is The Fountain.
